The Unbound estate - Amsterdam
Architecture - Landscape - Interior
Set in the green gardens of Amsterdam, The Unbound is a new independent estate; a boutique hotel with spaciously designed cabins and suites, a bar and restaurant, communal garden and wellness. It is here where the city meets Dutch nature and architecture. A playground for light, air and space.
Just outside of Amsterdam, this captivating landscape is teeming with secret gardens, a fireplace, and hotel cabins. Strolling through fields of reed, visitors can discover a myriad of enchanting retreats: a whirlpool, a picnic place and a secret bench, all of which are open to the public and invite anyone to seek out their own quiet spot.
A bridge over the pond connects the hotel suites to a handful of cabins, each positioned around a spacious, common fireplace. With a landscapes rich in iconic Dutch trees and vegetation, the surroundings offer a unique setting each season and allow guests to be fully immersed in nature.
At The Unbound, Studio Appelo was able to work with a great team of designers and was responsible for the creative direction of the concept/ overall design of the identity as well as the design of the landscape masterplan, community building "the Vuurplaats", the Barn lodges and the hotel interior.
